NASA Says Atlantis Returned Home With A Tiny Hole From Its ...

New York, NY (AHN) - An inspection of the space shuttle Atlantis this week has revealed a tiny hole in a radiator panel mounted to one of the two cargo bay doors on the shuttle. According to the U.S. space agency NASA's website on Thursday. The hole which is one-tenth of an inch in diameter was supposedly punched in by a tiny piece of space debris that might have struck the panel during the shuttle's September spaceflight.

NASA said that it wasn't clear exactly what the object was, but that the hole it created didn't pose any danger to the six-astronaut crew or vehicle at any given time.

The Space agency went on to say the object did not hit the sensitive tiles or thermal panels that shields the vehicle during its fiery entry to Earth's atmosphere.

The damage "didn't endanger the spacecraft or the crew, nor did it affect mission operations," NASA said adding that the hole was discovered by the Atlantis crew while working on the spacecraft.

Construction of mosque stayed by high court

A DIVISION bench of the high court here on Friday directed the Lucknow district magistrate and the SSP to get the alleged unauthorised construction of a mosque being carried out on Gokhle Marg here stayed forthwith.

The bench comprising Justices UK Dhaon and Rakesh Sharma passed the above orders on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed earlier by the Nishatganj Residents Welfare Association through advocate BK Singh. On being told that the unauthorised construction of the mosque was still being continued, the bench sought a reply from the LDA counsel, who informed the court that the LDA had already passed orders under Section 27 and 28 of the UP Urban Planning and Development Act for stopping and demolishing the unauthorised construction. The order, however, could not be implemented due to lack of co-operation from the district administration, it was said.

Sales incentives squeeze Meritage, other builders

Scottsdale-based Meritage Homes joined the ranks of most of the country's other big home builders last week when it pre-warned analysts and investors that its third quarter earnings wouldn't break any records.

Not a big surprise, since home building has significantly dropped off since last year and in some areas even fallen below 2004's pace. Home-order cancellations by people who can't sell existing homes, and investors who see they can't flip new homes for hefty profits anymore, are still plaguing the industry.

Until the surplus of homes built for those two groups who now aren't buying them is absorbed, fewer new homes will go up. .

Residents protest mall construction

TANGERANG: It was business as usual at the construction site of Pamulang Square near Lake Tujuh Muara on Jl. Siliwangi in Tangerang regency Thursday despite mounting protests from environmentalists and local residents.

Dozens of workers were seen digging holes to sink pylons for the shopping mall construction.

Protesters are concerned by the fact that the lake functions as a water catchment for the regency and a shopping mall construction would damage the environment near the lake, said Sugandi who is an activist with Lake Tujuh Muara Conservation Committee.

He said the committee and residents of the three subdistricts had delivered their objections to the developer's plan to build the square near the lake, but received no response.

"I think our concern is reasonable.
