Crane Tips Over On Construction Site

No one was injured after a crane tipped over at a construction site north of Manhattan. This picture was provided to us by Brad Hartenstein. It happened Thursday afternoon where a new building is being constructed for the Riley County Public Works Department. From what we've been told, the crane tipped as it was attempting to set a floor panel on the building site. A weight imbalance apparently caused the crane to tip over. No one was hurt. The new building, expected to be completed next spring, is at the corner of Highway 24 and Marlatt Avenue. When completed, the building will be used for vehicle and equipment maintenance for the Riley County Public Works Department. .

Builders gift chowkies, win goodwill

MUMBAI: The swanky, two-storey Navghar police beat chowky at Bhayander has builder Lallan Tiwaris name on display prominently. Tiwari, who funded its construction, says he did it out of sympathy for policemen who had no shelter from the sun or rain. When I saw policemen hanging clothes out to dry during the summer, I asked if I could construct a chowky for them. They said they needed approval from seniors. After a few weeks, I got a go-ahead to build the chowky. This is the least we can do for the police, he says.

Many police beat chowkies in the city display the names of builders who have funded their construction. Senior police officers have allegedly obtained funds from these benefactors for the chowkies, which do not have the state governments approval or budgetary support.
