MORIYAMA, Shiga -- A man who injured a woman in a hit-and-run accident before police found him drinking at home was arrested Saturday, police said. The 32-year-old man, Akihisa Yamamoto, was arrested on suspicion of professional negligence resulting in injury and violating the Road Traffic Law. Yamamoto reportedly admitted responsibility for the hit-and-run accident, but denied that he had driven under the influence. Police are investigating the possibility that he was drinking at home in an attempt to cover up drinking and driving. Investigators said that Yamamoto rammed into another car waiting at an intersection in Yasu, Shiga Prefecture, at about 4:25 p.m. on Friday, and then drove off. The 31-year-old female driver of the other car suffered minor neck injuries.
