Spokeswoman upset at release against initiative

A spokeswoman in a Proposition 105 TV ad said she's not a turncoat and is outraged over a news release sent to the media Friday by backers of a competing land-reform measure.

Kimberly Owens said she never told the Las Rancheras Republic Women's Club luncheon audience to not vote for Proposition 105.

Owens said she did field a question Friday from a Scottsdale audience member who said she wasn't going to vote for either proposition because she was so confused. "I told her that's not an entirely bad idea because it would bring all the stakeholders back to the table and perhaps come up with something else that will meet more needs," Owens said. .

Builders receive customer-service awards

Tarion Warranty Corp., the regulator of the province's home-building industry, on Wednesday named the winners of its annual awards of excellence. Top honours went to Great Gulf Homes and Tribute Communities of Toronto, Rinaldi Homes of St. Catharines, as well as Waterloo-area builder Krepstakies Custom Home Building.

"The Tarion Awards of Excellence recognize builders from across Ontario who are leaders in making the new home buying experience the very best it can be," said Tarion president Greg Gee.

Tarion's awards focus on customer service performance in four key categories: high-rise builder of the year, and large volume, medium volume, and small volume builder of the year.

"We have seen considerable improvement over the last few years in terms of customer satisfaction, as builders aim to stay ahead of rising consumer expectations," said Mr.

Five Lockheed plants win defense contractor award

Five Lockheed Martin facilities were honored last week with James S. Cogswell Awards for outstanding achievement in industrial security. The five award-winning facilities, all part of Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control business unit, are located in Camden, Ark.; Chelmsford, Mass.; Dallas; Ocala, Fla.; and Troy, Ala.

The announcement of the Cogswell award winners was made at the annual seminar of ASIS International in San Diego.

The Cogswell award is the highest recognition bestowed annually by the U.S. Defense Security Service (DSS) on a defense contractor. This year, only 29 facilities were selected to receive the award out of more than 11,000 eligible.

"What a tremendous honor it is for five of our facilities to be recognized by DSS with the Cogswell Award," said James F.

Maintain your home with a little know-how

Any chore is easier if you know how to do it correctly. Here are pointers for some of the maintenance jobs on your fall checklist:

Caulking

A gap in an exterior wall lets heated air escape. Common places for openings include the edges of doors, windows and chimneys, the places where pipes or wires enter the house, and the joint between the foundation and the walls.

Most of those gaps can be sealed using paintable caulk, although chimneys require a caulk specifically for that purpose. For openings that are too big for caulk, use expandable foam.

Caulk comes in squeezable tubes as well as tubes that fit into a caulking gun. It's worth investing in a caulking gun if you're doing a big job because squeezing the trigger is easier on your hands than squeezing a tube.

The Ultimate Information Source for the Electrician and Electrical ...

Electrician-ElectricalContractor.com has developed a one-stop shop for information on the electrical industry and specifically the electrical trade.

(PRWEB) October 5, 2006 -- Electrician-ElectricalContractor.com has developed a one-stop shop for information on the electrical industry and specifically the electrical trade. For anyone interested in pursuing a career as an electrician and progressing to an independent electrical contractor, this is the only domain you will need to bookmark.

For electricians and electrical contractors, searching for information about their trade has always been a rather time consuming task, because each State (and even some local municipalities) have their own set of requirements for licensing and issuing permits. Additionally, there are so many different aspects to the electrical trade that most websites typically address only one or two of them.
